Writer's Block: How Rude!

[Error: unknown template qotd]I try not to be rude to others, but I'm sure I've said/asked loads of dumb things that I realize a split second too late that they're rude.

Rudest thing someone asked/said to me? - Are you going to keep trying until you get a girl?

Are you going to keep trying until you get a girl?

I was all set to parry this question if we had a boy the second time, because our intention was to have two kids, period, and we didn't care if we had two boys, two girls or one of each, but I knew that a lot of people who did have two of one gender were bombarded by the question about whether they'd keep trying for a boy or girl, depending on what they didn't have. Then, when we had a girl, we learned a new obnoxious phrase: "A rich man's family." Apparently this is when you have one of each. I want to punch whoever thought of it; got to be the stupidest idea EVER. We love our kids and would have loved them just as much if they were both boys or both girls.

When I was pregnant the third time everyone kept saying to me "so you'll be hoping for a boy this time then?" to which I would reply "No I want a third girl actually"

but I think the rudest thing anyone has asked me (and several different people have asked me this) is whether or not my girls, who are only a year apart, have the same father!
