Monday, Monday....(boring life stuff)

Well, another weekend went by in a blur.

Friday night was the annual Mother/Son Dance at school (aka Open Gym Night). I was escorted by my three older sons, and promptly ditched at the door. The theme this year was Monte Carlo Night, and Matt (4th grade) found playing Blackjack very interesting. Josh hung with his buddy, Joe, and Nick and his buddy Sam (and later Henry joined them) had a ball running around. I never did dance with any of my boys - but in defense of them, they didn't really have much dancing. They had music, but with the blackjack tables and the basketball hoop down, it really wasn't much of a dance. The moms stand around and chat (over the loud music), and the boys play and run around. I came home with a slightly sore throat/hoarse voice due to yelling over the music.

But I did talk with a few moms and had a nice time overall. Before the "dance", the boys and I met to other families for dinner at CiCi's pizza . Not the best dinner, but a good place to take 3 women and 6 kids.

In addition to all that, we got our picture taken (I'll scan it soon), and I won a gift basket raffle!  The basket included a gift card to Starbucks (yum), and a gift certificate to our local Day Spa for a nutrient manicure!  Whee!!!!  I may have to do a pedicure at the same time, because you know, I can't have my feet look worse than my hands. *smirk*  I'm hoping I get another gift certificate there for Mother's Day.  My hubby did that last year, and it was a wonderful surprise.  I loved it and used it right before I had surgery. *must start dropping major hints*

The basket also had a DVD of the movie, The Notebook, a picture frame, and a necklace/earring set from Coldwater Creek.  It was all in a really lovely "hat box".

Saturday was spent preparing Matthew for his camping trip that he left for today.  I  had to actually go out and do the shopping for it - I had planned on doing it last weekend, but I was too sick to go out and take care of it.  I took Matthew with me - he needed jeans in the worst way - the poor boy didn't have any that actually fit him.  He was in Josh's hand-me-downs and they were way too big.  He's so much smaller than his older brother, that we were having a hard time with the jeans/pants fitting.  Since they wear uniforms at school, it's no big deal to have jeans be a bit big at home.  But with him going to be gone for 3 days, he needed some that fit.

I went to Sears where they have the "KidVantange" program - if they wear them out before outgrowing them, Sears replaces them for free.  I love Canyon River Blues jeans for the boys, but we could not find any that fit around the waist.  The 8 slims were too big in the waist, and the length was getting a bit short (Matt is 10 yrs).  So, he had on a pair I got at Kohls at some point, and they weren't too huge.  So we went to Kohls and found the coolest jeans -- they had an adjustable waistband!  I got him 3 pair - 10 slims and had to tighten the waist to the 4th buttonhole on either side.  (the adjustment is made using a band on the inside of the waist - no one can see that they're adjusted, they just look a little gathered in the back).  The best part?  They were on sale for 9.99 (reg. 19.99) plus since I put them on my Kohl's charge I got an additional 15% off.  Three pare of jeans for 27.00!!!!!

We then went to Super Wal-Mart - on a Saturday *shudder* - and got the gear and supplies he needed.  Scored another deal - pair of hiking boots on clearance for 5.00.  Regularly 17.00.  Got a really nice sleeping bag for 9.00.  So all in all, it was a good shopping day.

Spent the rest of Saturday labelling his things and packing, plus worked on PhoenixSong submissions with [personal profile] sherylyn , and cooked dinner.

Sunday we were bad catholics and skipped church (*shhhhh*) and went to lunch with my mom.  Ben and I crashed that afternoon for a bit, then Mike and i cleaned out the van (he's transporting children/gear to Camp today) and I went to the grocery, and did the last minute stuff for Matt's trip.

Today, will be spent doing a bit of organizing, both at work and home.

Spring Break starts Friday.  *throws confetti*  Josh has all kinds of tests this week.  Matt's gone through Wednesday (I go down on Wednesday to pick up gear at the Camp and help get them back to school), and he gets Thursday off as a "rest day".  So he's done with school until Monday the 24th.  After spring break, the boys only have seven weeks of school. *throws more confetti*  Ben graduates from preshool on May26th.

*hugs flist*  I've not been very good at keeping up.

Wow I'm tired just reading about your weekend. The mom and son dance sounded like a hoot. I guess there must be some point to calling it a dance.

Sounds like Matt has a couple good weeks ahead of him. I hope Josh's week isn't to bad.

The dance is a hoot every year, actually. There's never much dancing; just music and kids running everywhere. But it does raise funds for one of the classes (I think 7th grade this year), so that's good.

I hope Josh's week isn't too bad either. His last test is tomorrow. Thank goodness!

I can't imagine that there would be much dancing. Through high school I think I only danced at one of the dances I went to and that was just because she asked me. Of course I did suffer from a lack of a selfconfidence when it comes to dancing. But at least they boys don't have to dance to have a good time.

You're not kidding! They are something else.

And nothing like being hoarse from yelling, is it?

Y'all did GREAT on the shopping -- congrats! Nothing better than getting "deals" on things you actually even *need*! LOL!!

I'm semi-off of school again, too, b/c of Easter break, so it's a nice few days of not having to use my brain *that* way at least.

*HUGS* back -- you've been too swamped to keep up!! LOL!!

Thanks, Sherry...it was nice to get some really great deals. Esp. since this is an "extra" thing, and we had to pay for part of it (the cost wasn't horrible though, in fairness, thanks to PTO helping).

And yes, it's been swamped. I wish it would let up. *eyes my life*

*hugs*
