pneumonia update...
Nov. 10th, 2005 05:51 pmWell, Nicholas is back to his ol' self, for the most part. Starting to cough like a fog horn, and is cantankerous about how much fluid he has to drink, but other than that, he's normal again. No fever, playing, talking, no desire to sleep, etc.
I'm very thankful to my friends here who expressed their concern. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the love I felt. It really helped me through a difficult time.
We don't have a specific antibiotic yet, as the cultures haven't grown (no surprise there). They gave him 2 rocephin shots in the thighs today and he's responding, so it more than likely the bacterial type of pnuemonia. And since it's responding so well to rocephin, it's probably not mycoplasma but rather Strep pneumo. He'll get an antibiotic tomorrow that'll be oral, and we'll be well on our way to recovering. He'll have to have a follow-up chest x-ray in a month, and he'll probably cough for that long at least.
Anyway, I've just finished dinner, I've got to go in about an hour to get Matthew from a birthday party, and then I'll be done for the night.
