The alarm on the work freezer went off this morning, so I got a call from the hospital at 5AM. I came in early to check it, and it was fine. Darn thing!
My wedding set is ready at the jewelers, so I will be going to get it today.
I hope to get my R/T story to aggiebell90 in the next few minutes.
I am starting to feel human again, thanks to the adjustment in hormones. I'm still doing the treadmill thing -- I'm doing 15 minutes/1 mile a night. I hope to continue it every night for two weeks, then taper back to four-five times a week. And I hope to drop five or ten pounds in the process.
As a reminder, clicky-clicky the link to help fund mammograms.
Off to finish up work!

Date: 2005-10-13 09:31 am (UTC)I had one for a year -- it was an old freebie that my sister gave me. it was an old fashioned non-powered unit. So it only moved if I walked/pushed. I kept it up for a while, but I found it extremely boring. the fact that I had to keep my arms on the handles (to push) was one factor, as I couldn't even read a book while walking, let alone swing my arms.
We've since gotten rid of it. I've thought about getting a powered unit, to see if that would be better, but the boredom monotony thing is still there. As long as the weather is good I can try to do my walking in the neighbourhood.
What I really need, is a walking budddy, so he can encourage me and I him, and so I don't just let it slide.
I only want to drop about 5 pounds, but what I really should have is better aerobic/cardio stamina, and one inch less on my waist... :-)

Date: 2005-10-18 05:47 am (UTC)Sorry it took so long to get back to you on the treadmill thing.
The treadmill we have is a cheapy -- the non-electric type like you described. We both watch TV while on it, and I will sometimes put on my headphones with a podcast or cd instead. I'd rather read but with it being a manual treadmill, like you said, you can't read on those.
I'm only on the treadmill for 15 minutes, so the boredom thing isn't too bad. I usually watch some sort of quiz show, so that keeps my mind occupied while I'm on it.
We have a powered unit given to me by a friend, but we've never tried it -- the reason is because it takes up too much room. The manual one folds up, and we are able to store it easily between uses. The electric one, you have to leave out (it's currently in a storage area of our house).
I would much rather walk outside, but we only have one street in our plat and it gets a bit "old" walking the same path every night. Plus it's harder for me to get out of the house with all the kids to walk. And with it getting darker earlier now, and me getting home late from work or kids' activities, it's just hard for me to get outside to walk.

Oh, and my sympathies on the stupid freezer. Those alarms are enough to make you pull your hair out.

Date: 2005-10-13 04:00 pm (UTC)Very glad to hear about the walking, and your friendly neighborhood nags reminds you that stretching makes you feel better if only to roll out the tension.
I do hope the health issues reach a balance for you. *hugs*

Date: 2005-11-09 07:00 am (UTC)I need you to "nag" me on the proper way to go about exercising. I don't always think of things like stretching and such.
*hugs* to you my pixie.
